This was actually my second woodworking project that I built 3 months ago. It just took that long to find four strong backs to lift the washer and dryer into place. I put a pull-out shelf on one end for detergent, bleach etc. per my wife’s orders. Front Load w/d are back breakers, but now it’s easy to change clothes from one to the other without bending over or getting on your knees to reach the socks that are always way in the back of the washer.

The other side has room for a laundry basket. The pedestals they sell for these run from $200 to $250 EACH! I built this mostly from scrap and some old molding we had in the attic for under $80.

My wife is a happy camper! So naturally, I’m a Happy Camper!

Nice job Steve.
I made a set of those a while back and they have really helped my old back…lol

Todd, I raised them 22” and I also put 1/4” rubber pads on the six 4×4 legs which are half lapped and attached with 4 pocket screws and glued. There is also a cross brace under the 3/4” ply.

I need to build some of those for ours. My lovely bride wants me to help with the laundry more, and those front loaders are NOT friends with my back! You might have just provided some inspiration!

db, I did a couple of loads yesterday (not normal for me) and it was wonderful. I may actually start doing the laundry just for fun. ;)
