I built this table last year out of some Jatoba and a beautiful piece of curly maple I got from a new friend who does chainsaw sculpting.

I’m brand new to finer woodworking and I learned a lot while designing the leg and building this piece.

The leg is inserted in to a 1’’ wide x 7’’ long hand cut mortise int the maple top. It was then epoxied in place. The entire piece was then finished with poly and then hand polished with paste wax.

My cousin saw it when I posted it on facebook and fell in love with it. She offered to buy it so this piece is not only my first table, but also my first sale!

The crappy cell phone pics do not do justice to the table top. The maple is beautifully figured.

Very unique design on the base. I like it a lot!
Pics don’t do justice to the top (I hope!)

Beautiful and unique table, great wood colors and cool asymmetrical design. Great job!
