I finally got these finished today, they are all cored from the same blank, which came from the US. The fifth piece was a bit small so I decided to add it as a foot to the 3rd bowl, just to be different.

Bowl No. 1 is 11.5in x 4.5in and is finished with Satin Gloss Lacquer.
Bowl No. 2 is 9.75in x 3.5in and is finished with Shellawax Glow.
Bowl No. 3 is 7.5in x 3.5in Shellawax Glow.
Bowl No. 4 is 5.5in x 1.5in Shellawax Glow. All are sanded to 400.

I decided to leave all the worm holes so they will most certainly not hold water.

The rough turned pieces have been sitting in a box of shavings for at least 12 months. There was very little warpage and no cracks so that was good.

C & C welcome and thank you for looking.

Bob.

Great set of bowls Bob, beautiful grain in the larger ones and the worm holes are effective. Nice finish on all, what system for coring do you have?.

Bob, Its the Kiwi “Woodcut” Corer. Comes with two knives for different sizes. Works very well, but chatters a bit on very hard wood.

Very distinguished looking bowls and no cracks. It’s great when you can get so much out of one piece of wood. Nice work Bob.

These are some really good looking bowls Bob. I love how the colors play around all over them.

Love that Box Elder Bob, looks like the worms do too, little do they know, that they added a lot of character to this project.

They certainly have specular grain/colour.
I hope they were compliance fumigated before delivery !!

Would not want any of those critters getting loose in my timber supply

Rob.
Yes mate, $43.00 at the Quarantine Centre. Plus original cost and postage made it a very expensive blank.
