This is a plaque I made for a guy that I work with that retired a couple of years ago. I took a photo of the patch and modified it just a little.
The first photo is the finished plaque. The second photo is just after I cut everything out. The third photo, I sprayed the lettering area and star area with lacquer and then used a wax bar over the lettering and star. I cleaned the wax out in the lettering area and started adding the epoxy for the inlay. The fourth photo shows all the epoxy in place. After everything was dry, it was sanded. Black epoxy was then added around the state outline. It was finished off with 2 coats of clear lacquer with a light sand with 00 steel wool after the first coat.
I used a key hole bit on the back for a hanging wall mount. The plaque is 8” in diameter and is made out of mahogany.
