This was my first attempt at offset turning. I think it came out pretty good, the handle has a nice oval shape that feels good in your hand.
Wood is sapele, I had a couple of scraps that I glued together.
Ferrule is just a piece of copper pipe.
Finish is Behlen’s woodturners finish.

Looks solid you should get many years of use out of that tool.
Can you give us a pic from the end of the handle to see the shape better?

I made a set of screwdrivers from the shank set that Lee Valley sells. I’ve thought several times that I wish I had offset turned them, if for no other reason, so that they won’t roll off of the workbench. That really gets to be a pain. I was thinking of trying to do an offset turning that would result in more of a triangle shape, but not sure how well it will work. Yours looks great. There is just something about a tool with a handle of nicely polished wood that just feels good in the hand.

Beautiful tool! The handle looks comfy to hold. Great way to use scraps.

Have your say...
