Papa Bear's Chair

This was my first chair and one of my first projects. A different take on a Morris chair. I wanted it to be different, and since they tend to be very linear chairs, I chose to add as many slight curves as I could. I started with the vertical slats, which also gave it more of a three dimensional feel, which marched the legs. Then the arm rests, head, and even seat cushion curving into the front slat.
I didn’t have any power tools except for a borrowed miter saw – so, everything you see, minus the cuts, was done by hand.

Great looking Morris chair! I guess if you can do this kind of work with hand tools, you don’t need power tools!

This is nicely done and it’s a fine design.
