Ok… it was time for me to join in on the fun and do one of these. My first cutting board, inspired by so many others of you who have done this project… Thank you to all who made this before me!
The usual trinity – cherry, maple, walnut.
I was only able to glue up about half of this at a time before things started setting on me… I will definitely make a jig if I decide to make another one of these.
A very fun project to do, and I’ll probably attempt the tumbling block board next. I guess I got the fever as well.
I think the best part of this was that it was the first project I made using my crosscut sled that I made yesterday, and this was all done from rough stock that I milled myself. About the only thing I didn’t do on this was cut the trees down myself.
I cut rough boards to a little over 16 inches and worked them down from there.
Sanded to 320 grit, finish is the Salad Bowl Finish.
There are a few little glue flaws in it… but that adds a little character to it I suppose…
