Doll Cradle for Livi

I wanted to build a doll cradle for my 2 year old granddaughter since she told her Mom that she couldn’t take her nap because her “babies” didn’t have a bed. Since I had never attempted “real furniture”, I thought a miniature piece might be good practice.
I found a small picture online that I thought might be a good starting place. The construction is all poplar with loose tenon joints (my first effort at loose tenons as well).
After glue up, sanding and painting, I liked it.
Livi will be turning 3 next month and this is her birthday present from Granddaddy!

Very nice cradle, quite the challenge to get all the holes to line up perfectly like you did, good job.

Great gift. I also built some cradles for my twin granddaughters. They loved them and treasure them. One of them has branched off into horses so I had to build her a horse barn. I built it like a doll house that opens on the end. IT is 18 inches wid by 24 inches long. it is about 24 inches tall. Gambrel roof style.

Grandpa (love that handle) – I’d love to see some pics of the horse barn. This was my first effort at anything resembling a “gift” but I really encouraged by the result and thanks for your comments.
