I was tasked to build this for a co-worker who retired. The emblem is cut from a CNC laser machine. Also, I had to replicate the arc in the base to place the glass insert. I traced the glass first. I didn’t have a trammel for my router and had never used or needed one until this project. So, before I went and made some big jig or something, I wanted to see how a simple one worked. So I just got a piece of 1/4” ply, cut a hole for the bit and attached the router to the plywood. Then, basically just guessed where to place a nail for the pivot point. I was off a bit. At that point I was planning on making a jig where you can slide the pivot up and down. But, just for the heck of it, I moved the nail “some” and tried again. Took the test piece to the trophy shop to see how it would fit and BOOM, perfect. Got lucky. “They” didn’t have all kinds of money to spend on materials for this, so I just used left over walnut and made a veneer. The photo didn’t turn out too well though.
