I found a beautiful Acacia wood plate in a bargain bin at a home decorating outlet. I noticed real potential due to its beautiful warm colors and grain, and got to work hand cutting the design on the scroll saw I’m pleased with the results. The gorgeous grain and color of the wood really goes well this particular design, I feel. The scales were somewhat tedious, but the rest was a lot of fun. Acacia wood cuts rather well, but I made sure not to breath in the very fine dust, which has an odd coffee like odour to it. I finished it with a by simply applying a coat of lemon oil, which really brought out the beautiful grain. Adapted from a design by John Polemius.
Dimensions: 16 inches wide by 12 inches high.
