I don't call it work

Pen # 1 The one with the decal is made of Knotty Alder. I cut out the knot to get the cool grain for this one. The decal is for a company. He really liked the look of the wood. I explained that is a softer wood and might need extra care to make sure it doesn’t get dented or scratched. I did make sure to sand down past the diameter of the metal parts to build up extra layer of CA glue. After sanding and polishing There should still be 10-12 layers left on the pen. I like the black cap on this European kit.

Pen # 2 is made from buckeye burl (natural no dye). This is the first cigar pen I have turned. My client really liked the look of the pen on the web. I have never had a draw to the larger pens. But the weight and balance of this one is perfect! The colors of the wood and the metal go great.

Working to make a few bucks to buy more woodworking tools… for the shop garage is not considered work is it?

As always thanks for looking!

Way to go! You are already making some extra cash to supplement your woodworking budget. The pens look very nice! That’s a lot of coats of CA. Are you using a kicker to cure the coats faster? Just curious.

Brett,
Thank you and I do use an accelerator to speed up the fab time. I just don’t have the time to wait. If I had another lathe I would not be so rush rush I guess. OOoo there’s a thought 2 lathes.
