LED Lamp Base

Those little inexpensive LED gooseneck lamps from IKEA are nice, but they need a magnetic base.

I made a couple of bases using rare earth magnets, but wanted something a little nicer.

I picked up a magnetic base the other day at Harbor Freight and dipped into the scrap bin to make an interface between the lamp and the base.

Very interesting…

Do you have a link to the HF mag.base?

Thank you.

Nice job! Here’s a HF link: http://www.harborfreight.com/multipositional-magnetic-base-with-fine-adjustment-5645.html#.UxuO_pKHt8E
but it’s not too hard to make your own base with a magnet, knob and lever/cam to lift magnet up away from base when you need to remove it from something. They can be found on some of the metal machining sites. I’ll have a look and bring it back here if I can find one.

Dennis,

Thank you for the link!
I thought that part was part of the Lathe! LOL
The picture was worth 2,000 words!

COOL base… You can turn the knob to Release it too!

It all makes more sense now…

Thank you very much!
