Kitchen island

Here is the kitchen island I made for my wife. This was made from old oak barn siding. The barn was blown down in a tornado we had here in Ky on March 2, 2012. This is what it made after being run through the planer, drum sander, and jointer. It has raised panel doors, a drop leaf, and casters. You can see inside the door the old circular saw marks from where it was originally milled. This wood is around 100 years old. It took it about 1 month with a dehumidifier to get the right moisture level. My wife put 3 heavy coats of polyurethane on it. The main thing( my wife loves it).

Beautiful kitchen island! Like the wood, has great history and those marks add some character to it. I’m sure it will last for another 100 years. Great job!
