I made this for my daughter for Christmas. She loved it so much that she has become interested in woodworking herself. She is now my daily shop helper. I look forward to many special projects with her.
This box taught me a lot. It’s the first time I ever used laminate. The lid and drawer fronts are Elm burl. The sides are Oak while the trim is some exotic hardwood that I’m unsure of. I think it might be Cocobolo. The side doors swing open and have hooks for her necklaces. The top drawer is a false drawer. The lid opens up for more storage. This is also the first time I used edge banding. The frame is made from Birch ply. I never knew how easy edge banding was until I did this project.
P.S. Again with the sideways picture. What’s up with that?
