My Morris Chair

This is my version of the Morris Chair. I built it using a plan available at the “Wood” magazine site. I purchased all the lumber for it from a yard sale. It was all rough cut lumber. This was my first time milling rough cut lumber, first attempt at building furniture. Haven’t built any since, but at least I know I could muddle through it.

Thank you all for the comments. The ship and lighthouse were done on the scroll saw. Sorry for the messy room. That is my basement room, my wife would kill me if she saw that I posted these pictures.

P.S. I did not do the cushions, they were done by a professional, a gift from my lovely wife.

You should build furniture more often. This is a very nice piece.

If that is your first furniture project, I can’t wait to see your work when you get practiced. :) You should be very proud of your accomplishment. Keep at it and thanks for sharing.

A Morris chair was your first woodworking project? You are a brave soul. I like how the chair came out, a classic style with some details that made it your own.

pintodeluxe, not my first woodworking project, my first and only furniture building. It turned out pretty well and I am proud of it. I’m just a hobby woodworker so I don’t normally venture into furniture. I used a plan from Wood Magazine.
