this walnut coffee table was a wedding present for a good friends daughter.
I made a few projects available to choose from , table ,lamp, bench , mirror etc…
She showed me a coffee table from a Pottery Barn magazine she liked.
It had rounded corners… for future kid safety
I asked her if i could just use the size and shape and design my own around the foot print size.
So this is what i designed and built.
Book match top and bottom shelf were fun to work with.
Simple wipe on danish oil finish 3-4 coats (i really can’t recall) .

That is a nice table. The rounded corners make sense for children as well as old folks. I like danish oil, as my shop is dusty and I can keep wiping until the finish isn’t sticky.

The walnut is beautiful and it is my favorite wood out there. Nice work, great table.

The legs were tough, it’s a 45 degree pocket with a support from under and another piece above.
With a 1/8 strip covering the top piece that shows, I will add photos when back at my desk top.

i cut a piece with bevels on two sides to cover the screws and my back block that ran from shelf up to top.

Good for you. A well-built and attractive piece that should be hers forever.

Looks great, simple design but really well made. The walnut is gorgeous and also the finish. Great job!
Have your say...
