I really liked the design and look of this project in the magazine so I stayed true to the plan and materials. Finished according to Jeff Jewett’s mission oak process which has been documented several places including here:

1. TransTint dye in water (Dark Mission Brown)
2. General Finishes SealACell
3. General Finishes Gel Stain (Nutmeg).
4. General Finishes ArmRSeal Satin (3 coats).

Rare earth magnets hold the doors both closed and open.

This is a heavy cabinet, 50lbs+ with the dartboard, so I added a full width french cleat to the back. Had I thought about it earlier in the build I would have recessed the back panel (and/or made the case deeper) so the cleat would be flush with the case edge. As it is now the cabinet hangs proud of the wall.

Beautiful piece. Looks sweet both opened and closed. Great wood, great finish, great execution. Well done all around.

A very nice looking piece of furniture. Hope it doesn’t attract to many darts in the wrong location. (-:
Love the finish! What is the source for the side scoring panels, or did you number them yourself?

Ron, I did the scoreboards myself with vinyl letters and numbers from letteringonthecheap.com. It was the first site I found that offered an old english stye font.
