This is the spokeshave I just finished. I purchased the Veritas Large spokeshave kit http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=49710&cat=1,50230) a few months ago and just got around to making the body in the last couple of weeks.

This was a super fun little project and a good challenge in accuracy. Using a combination of machine and hand tool skills. With a little metalworking thrown in.

The body is made from birch and has lovely straight grain. Finished with BLO and 3 coats poly.

Highly recommended for intermediate and advanced woodworkers or confident beginners who want to waste some wood and build skills quickly.

I will write a review of the kit sometime soon for those who are interested.

The last picture shows a piece of birch that I quickly rounded over to give the shave a test run… see the lovely shavings!

Yes! I could happily make tools all the time but haven’t figured out how to make it pay the bills yet.
