This is my latest creation.
This Kiva or Native American ladder is meant as a corner unit in bathroom for towels. It’s also good for a bedroom or such as a place to display quilts.
It’s made out of eastern, red, aromatic, ceder poles and branches. The construction is mortise and tenon with hidden screws in the back. It has a light lacquer finish over it.
I am also a leather worker by trade so I added the leather straps, tooled cuffs, tooled feathers, conch and horse hair details to give it even more Native American flavor.
The entire project took about 16-20 hours.
-- If at first you don't succeed, slam it on the ground, kick it across the shop, blast it with a shotgun, tell the kids to cut it up for firewood, turn up the music an try try again.

I like the ladder very much, but the leatherwork makes it truly stand out. Nice job.
