A rubber band shooting crossbow. Found this in my scroll saw magazine and just had to have one. I haven’t tested it with anything other than a rubber band so not sure how far this goes. The knights are the targets with the castle acting as a Hollywood prop lol. Thanks for looking!

Oh yeah! This looks like fun. Fun to build and fun to play with.

i like this a lot! I have always loved medieval stuff! Does it shoot rubber bands? i cant tell from the pic, but it looks like it would fire some missile of some kind and that the rubber bands power it right? if so- what do the missiles look like? I have not made any toys yet, but with my daughter at 2 1/2 years old and one due in May, I am sure that won’t be true for much longer. Are these plans avail?

I have a rubber-band Gatling gun on my project list… I don’t do any scroll saw work really, but happened to pick up on of the project editions of the magazine and took it home and plan to build it some time. (Yes, i am the big kid at my house, lol)

Thanks for the views. This crossbow does shoot rubber bands. For now it shoots rubber bands, there is a pin at the front of the crossbow and one where the big clothes pin is. The rubber bands on the right and left side are for looks. This crossbow could be modified so the left and right rubber bands are actually propelling an object other than a rubber band.

With young children in the house, adding scroll saw skills to your skills is a good thing. There are so many toys etc you can make scroll sawing and the material cost is less (but that’s relative). I’ve made helicopters, cat banks, doll furniture etc.

The source for my plans is “ScrollSaw Woodworking & Crafts, Issue 49, Holiday 2012”. Here is a link to their website, http://www.scrollsawer.com/ . You can order past magazine issues.
