This is my first true woodworking project. I saw the design in “The Table Book” by Popular Woodworking, and immediately fell in love with its design. I just had to build it!
Luckily the build process is a relatively low degree of difficulty, and I felt I could tackle it. It was great to learn a lot of basic skills, such as template routing, rabbeting, and gluing up a top. The wood is QS white oak, and I followed Christopher Schwartz’s directions (which were great!) for the building process. The finish is Robert Lang’s recipe—Special Walnut oil-based stain, Watco Dark Walnut Danish oil, amber shellac, and a coat of wax.
Throughout the process I definitely made some rookie mistakes, but overall I’m very happy with the outcome, and have certainly been bitten by the woodworking bug…already planning my next project! Thanks for looking.
