What do you do with an old wooden back board, you make a coffee table. This is an old plywood back board that is no longer used on an ambulance and hadn’t been for several years. Though I did still clean it very well with a bleach mix. The base is all oak, with pegged mortise and tenon joints. The legs are salvaged from some old pallets. And the “heart beat” is a piece of steel rod bent and set into the legs. The top was sealed with shellac and polyurethane, the base was given a oil varnish coat.

Very nice. I like the added touch of the heart beat in the ends.

What a cool design. And the EKG tracing in metal is a nice touch.

Well done for raising the bar in re-cycling. Now ALLyou have to do is make receptacles to fit the holes & slots and your work is complete. Don’t know why but I just love seeing the laminates in ply.

My son is an EMT specialist, he trains, he’s a supervisor and works in the field. I’ve asked him about these boards but apparently they were outdated before he got into the field. Makes an awesome coffee table though!

Cool and solid coffee table! Unique design, like the use of old back board and bent steel rod. Awesome work!

Very cool, that is something that would go great in the office lobby at work! Favourited.

wm404 what do they use in place of backboards? Or is it just wooden ones that he hasn’t seen?
