It Came Out Of The Trash Pile

A buddy of mine from work needed a sign for his neighborhood homeowners association…they just didnt want to spend a lot of money on it. I told him I would see what I could come up with. I have a bad habit of not being able to throw wood away but usually the last stop before the dump is when it gets thrown on my utility trailer. I salvaged some plywood last summer and had these pressure treated 1x’s left over after I broke the panels down. They were in sad shape and had about a thousand nails left in them but I kept thinking I would eventually find something to do with them. Well, after pulling a bucket full of nails, I ran the boards through the joiner and glued up a workable panel. Whipped put the Sign Pro router jig and promptly ruined the first board when the template slipped. After a small amount of tweaking, I was able to turn out a low cost sign that should hold up reasonably well being exposed to the elements. Its finished with two coats of clear coat to add some protection. Its not pretty but the price should be right…lol

Buster, I was probably one of the guys this sign was needed for. Oh well. Great job. Well done with that old lumber.

Great sign Buster. The rustic look appears to really fit the outdoor location.

Great job buddy. I really like it and the lighter coloring on the lettering will be really good as time goes on and the wood darkens a bit. LOVE to reuse wood. I really like your design
