I built this table as an entry table for barn weddings. I tried to give the illusion of it being very old. I used worn cypress floor boards for the top, cypress base board for the skirts and the legs were joists from an old home, also cypress. The whole table was scrubbed with a mixture of sawdust, red chalk, blue chalk, and ashes from a fire. The the top was shellaced and waxed. The skirts and legs were painted a blueish gray color, then the paint stripped off and waxed several times.

Nice table, looks like an antique for sure. I like the description of your antiquing method, that’s a lot of work, but I may have to try that on a future project.

I like the style and especially the color and finish of the wood. The distinct break in the color from the top to the base is classy. Lots of work, but someone should be proud of this for a long, long time.

Nice table, but I want to see more of that shop!

That looks to interesting to ignore.

Have your say...
