This is a cedar chest I built last spring for my future sister-in-law. She wanted something to put in a screened porch for looks and to store a few small gardening tools, workboots, and whatever. It’s very basic construction. A plywood box with a frame built around it. No fancy joinery, a lot of screws. It’s all 1 1/2” cedar except the slats which are 3/4”. I finished it with danish oil and several coats of spar urethane. In retrospect I really wish I had used less gloss in the finsh, but she was really happy with it so I guess it’s okay. Thanks for looking.

Very nice.
Did you stained it?

No stain, just a couple coats of oil and then the urethane.

I think the shine makes it shine, you don’t see that often, very cool indeed.
