Made from solid oak this fireplace surround was a new challenge. All the trim pieces are shop made. The larger cove molding was done on the table saw. If you have never made cove molding on the table saw you have got to try it. Truly an interesting experience in my opinion. Just watch the hands.

My measurements weren’t quite correct and you will notice the overhang at the hearth. Problem solved, I trimmed the hearth with 2 1/2” oak.

My wife really likes the new fireplace and surround, beats the pine surround the builders put in the house.

Beautiful build! Great design and the wood is beautiful. A great addition to the fireplace that makes the room more pleasant.
