I recently received some carving burrs in the mail and wanted to give them a workout, so I cut a piece of pine 1×12 and got to work.
I really liked the symmetry of this Celtic design and decided it would be enough of a challenge to learn from.
The basic shape was cut on the scrollsaw and the carving was done using burrs on my dremel tool.
I hand sanded enough to remove the larger scratches, but left a few of the minor ones in to give it a hand-hewn look.
A coating of tinted wax finished the piece.
The piece measures around 8×10 inches.
