Well, just got power back yesterday, so haven’t been able to post. But there won’t be any shop time for awhile. Survived Gustav, but not totally without damage. It could have been a lot worse, but at least no water in the house as all of the damage is over the carport, I’m hoping. Don’t let anyone ever tell you log homes aren’t tough. I realy believe the damage would have been worse if this was a regular gable end. The adjuster is supose to be out Monday. But now I have to decide if to start repairs now or wait until Ike and Josephine decide what they are going to do.
I hope our other Louisiana LumberJocks faired well with the storm.
I wish everyone a good and safe weekend.
Take care
Bobby

Bobby,
I think you’re right about the log cabin being more damage resistant.
I hope y’all don’t take the brunt of Ike too. ‘course, I hope we don’t either.

Yikes. Good to hear you are safe and ok. I’m like you. But I would make sure it is waterproof before the next one comes in. Really hope you don’t have to go through another this year. Stay safe my friend.

glad you are ok.
Hope the next storms dwindle out before they cause damage.

glad to see damage was ‘minor’ – it really would have been much worse if this was a regular construction house – lets hear it for the logs!
I’d wait it out, and start repairing after the the weather calmed down a bit more.

Glad you’re safe! Sounds like you should keep the hatches battened down for a bit longer though. :( Hang in there!
It’s hard to tell what species that tree is, from the pictures. You might have to make some “lemonade”... :)

I am glad you are unhurt. The damage looks repairable. I pray for your safety in the next round, too.
