This is another practice turning I did. I wanted to see how difficult it was and what it would look like to laminate pieces of 4/4 oak together and turn them. It’s pretty easy, and the lines are very hard to distinguish. I plan on making some oak columns for a project in the future, and I think this is the route I will take since I’ve got so much 4/4 material out back. In this piece I bored a hole down the center and beveled the top at a 45 degree for appearance. I’m not a big fan of oak when it’s natural colored, but turning it sure was fun. Maybe next time I’ll stain it really dark.

Looks good, is it just a trick of the camera or is the piece oblong shaped or egg shaped? jockmike2
