An Old Door or...

a coffee table?

Recneck or…. Shabby Chic?

You decide. ;)

Either way, here it is. This old door was left behind by the previous owners of our house. I liked this thing and didn’t want to toss it so it sat around in the garage collecting dust and taking up space. Finally I was able to scrounge up some 2×4s (only the finest) and make a base to secure the door on.

Viola! a coffee table was born!

Half lap joints, glue and screws hold this beauty together. A very detailed multi-layer paint finish on the top and nothing but bare wood below, to show the true beauty of the wood. The only thing you can’t do with this is stand in the middle of the top. It’s delicate center panel would surely split… at least crack.

:) Thanks for looking! :)

Great project! New and old always looks great!
Its nice to see a coffee table with some size to it. And an added plus if you spill a drink on it the floor should be safe.

Great reuse, base looks very nice for 2×4s.

Cool table! Unique use of the old door and has a very nice antique look. Great work!
