I made this for a dear friend for Christmas. Made from the scraps of my most recent project, I had fun band-sawing the shape and sanding everything to a smooth, silky finish. Made from a block of laminated purple heart scraps and some fifed and hard maple, it’s my first attempt at a band-sawn box.

Really nice looking box Cindy. You didn’t say but it looks like purple heart and maple. Also curious about the size.

Thank you, everyone! The main box is of purple heart, the bottom is maple, the inlay is left-over from the figured maple I used for the doors of the base cabinet from the Library Wall project I completed last year. The dimensions are approximately 6”x6”x3”

That’s one attractive little heart box. The purple heart looks stunning with maple and awesome finish. Beautiful work!
