This is a rebuild of my past mallet build from a couple of years ago at Christmas. This is a walnut and oak combo dead blow mallet. The heads have steel shot incased in them to help deadened the blow. The leather prevents marking or dents in any wood this is used on. I shaped the handle on the sander and bandsaw. There is a walnut wedge to tighten up the joints and keep the hammer stiff and resilient.

Last month, my table saw cabinet build was shared by three individuals that really helped my name get around very quickly. So I sent these to Jay Bates – “Jays Custom Creations”, John Heisz – “I Build It”, and of course Steve Ramsey – “Woodworking for Mere Mortals” as a thank you for all they have done.

For those of you interested, here is a full video build: http://youtu.be/xVZZWEZmfck

Thank you all for looking and enjoy!

I guess these are not meant to be used, right, there for display only?

If they are to be used, is the handle a little thin?

Hell no, lol! I have one that I have used for two years on a daily basis. That handle is freaking hard and stiff. I have already tested them and they have no give. Love them!

Ok, saw the video, seems like it is beefier than it looked in the pic.
