I have been working on a handful of different projects recently. None of them for my wife…
She mentioned that she would love if I made her something eventually.
Since I had recently made myself a new wedding band, I assumed a bangle would just be an englarged version of that.
I had a piece of purpleheart in the shop already so that made my wood choice easy.
This could have probably been a really easy project on the lathe, but to be honest, its still an intimidating tool for me so I just used my disc sander. I drilled out the center with a forstner bit and got to sanding.
I roughed out the shape with the 80 grit disk.
I used an empty drum sander to wedge the bangle ontp it, and with my shopsmith in horizontal boring form I used strips of sandpaper to finish sand it up through the grits.
The finish is CA glue up through 12,000 and Meguiars headlight wax for the final gloss.
She was really excited about it.
