Winged Walnut Bowl

This bowl is made from a piece of walnut I brought back from TN. It is 13 1/2 inches long by 7 1/2 inches wide. At its highest point it is 2 1/4 inches high. I tried to leave bark on the edges but it didn’t stay on. The bowl is 5 inches in diameter by 2 inches deep. There were two insect holes on the outside in exactly the wrong place, so I just smoothed them a little to make them look a little better. I finished the bowl in satin lacquer. I made a lid for it but am not happy with it, so I will be making another.

You did a great job seeing this in the board. Those of us who turn can understand what a thrill this kind of bowl is to turn.
Love the grain!
