Project Information

My sister asked me to make these 2 ladders to store blankets and bath towels in the house they are building. My brother in law and I used a total of four 2×4s to make both pieces. I cut them to five foot lengths and ripped the scrap in half then cut them to 16" lengths to form the ladder rungs. The rungs were attached by way of the kreg jig.

They are 5' high and 19" wide. We sanded them with 80 and 220 grit, stained one with ebony and the other with black cherry…finished with a satin polyurethane. We spent about $6 per ladder as the wood was our only expense. I've seen similar ones advertised for $180 at major retailers…unbelievable! Then again, these aren't "rustic". When I figure out how to make them rustic I will become a rich man. Lol!

They look great! I had wanted to build one for my bathroom, but it turns out the room is too small.
