Hey folks!

I’m back with another variation on the bent wood ring.

This time I took two shavings, one walnut one maple, and wrapped them together and made a laminated ring. There are some variables to play with when doing these but I like how this first attempt came out. The Mrs. quickly claimed this one as hers so that must be a good sign. :)

I used CA (superglue) for the finish and some wax.

These are quick and simple projects with minimal tools or space required. In fact, this is a great “too cold for going to the shop” project that can be done inside by the woodstove where it is warm and dry!

Thanks for checking this out. I hope you get motivated to go give it a try for yourselves!

First attempt at making a ring with a shaving here.

Video showing how I did it here.

You got my creative juices flowing again – make the next one a little thicker and you might be able to carve through the layers for a really interesting textural effect.

Great Job!!!!

Oh, you’re onto something big, while it is little. Good stuff.
