A large walnut only gavel for ‘daily use’, not as fancy as a presentation gavel but still quite large and hefty. Head is about 3 inches and handle is 12 inches. Makes quite the ‘thud’ when session is called to order! Danish oil finish instead of lacquer so it will not show wear as much.

The verdict is in….
That is one fine looking gavel!!!

There is a gavel build, in my not too distant future.
It will be part of a desk clock.
I need to do some research, I’m wondering what the history behind them is.
....if there is a tradition or “rule” as to it’s design…
Or does anything go!

Enough about my issues…

I’ve looked at and seen a lot of them and I think the “anything goes” mantra seems to be the one!! Sometimes I make one that has a specific pattern on it like the base of the Capitol Building columns but not often. Thanks. Good luck with yours!!
