Hey guys, These little bottle openers have been around for a while, but i thought it would be cool to make one that sticks you your fridge as well so i made these. I used variations of maple and walnut and finished them with Danish Oil. If you want to check out how i built them here’s a link to that. http://imgur.com/a/afPE8

Thanks for looking!

Comrade,

Very nice project and your link was very informative – this is going on a “must do” list.

One suggestion though – you might want to glue some felt on the back which will eliminate any possibility of scratches to the surface you are sticking it to. I’ve made some dishwasher signs that use rare earth magnets the same way yours is mounted and I’ve found felt works really well.

Cheers!

I like the magnet catcher, it defies gravity. A must for every Man Cave or back deck. Thank you for the link.

What type of magnets did you use, how thick is the layer of wood separating magnet and caps and how many caps do they hold?
Thanks

Anyone ever figure out what size magnets to use? I bought some 3/4 by 1/4 inch rare earth magnets, tried making one out of old barn wood, dont know if it’s just a lot heavier than the wood used in the others but it wasn’t holding onto my fridge

The magnets i bought were these http://amzn.com/B0012APP8E The 3/4 by 1/4 should have been more than enough to hold it up. How many did you use to stick it to the fridge? i used two just to hold it on the fridge.

Have your say...
