This desk is in the creole fashion, with pied de biche legs(with the exception of a cloven foot). It was my first experience making cabriole legs and dovetailing a drawer. The top and skirts are built from reclaimed cypress roof stripping. The black nail holes are where the original wood shingles were nailed when the home was built in 1780. The legs were purlin bracing from the framing of the roof of the same home, also cypress. It is finished with tung oil and amber shellac.
