This is the custom full size bed frame that I just completed for a client. This is made out of pine which started as 1″x 10″x 10′ board. Every detail that is shown was done by hand there is nothing that is prefabricated on the bed. Actual dimensions of the bed are 54in x 77in for the inside space, overall 54in x 90in. I designed the entire frame, the foot of the bed is set up with 3 built in bookshelves, these are a fixed height. As I could not locate any type of pre-made brackets for attaching the sideboards to the head and foot, I fabricated my own out of 2 inch aluminium corners.

The routeing all matches on each piece that it is on, and the inside of the corner posts all have a raised panel that was cut in by hand. I will be adding the additional shelves to the head bedposts and I will also be adding a custom bed knobs within the next week.

Client and I are really happy with the finished results, and added in to the top of the posts she would like a silhouette of a wolf head on each posts. I will be doing those this next week and I get to try out some rusty skills using my jig saw.

The cost wasnt to bad for this piece. About 175 for the lumber (decent pine with tight or little knots) everything else was about another 50. Overall time about 50 hours with finish time.

This was a simple yet challenging project as it was started from a fresh idea with no plans. So I was also able to get some work into my drafting skills.

Nicely done and very attractive work.

Great looking execution and finish.

I am not sure if you can edit your homepage or not, but according to it, your shop predates the Magna Carta! “I started my own woodshop, Launch date of Dec 15th, 1013.” LOL

LOL @ AandCstyle I will have to change that did not even notice. I have a slight memory though of His Highness Sweyn Forkbeard commissioning me to build His Royal Bed. LOL. I will go take a look and change the date to at least appear to be from this century.

Thanks for the compliment too.
