This was my first project, I worked on it over a couple of days with a coworker of mine. I guess I really owe him for helping me get the “itch” for woodworking. I completed this about 3 years ago, I built it to go over another table so my girlfriend didn’t freak out when we needed to use our “dinner table.” Now my beloved Poker table sits in the basement and my girlfriend is now my wife. Needless to say we are waiting for a larger space to bust out the table again.
My shop takes priority over the man cave for now. It was built with 5×5 Baltic Birch, added a 4” Walnut arm rail with a1/4” round over, sealed the top with about 6 coats of poly, added Minwax Paste Finishing Wax over the poly and the cards slide just as nice as they did on the previous felt table. I know it is not a traditional table but how can you not love the beauty of wood over the dullness of felt. Plus I was able to paint my Alma mater on it, Go Penn State. I ordered cup holders that would accommodate both beer bottles and pint glasses, Never know whats going to happen at the table. The best thing was these are spill proof cup holders, no accidents to clean up, other than their money.
Great project, can’t wait to get it out and throw some cards around again.

Thanks for looking,

Great job on that fantastic poker table, attractive wood combo and the finish really set it off.

Have your say...
