My wife wanted a new clock for the Dining Room so I decided to make a some clocks for gifts too. For the first two clocks I acquired some nice Quilted Maple that was sold as wood for making guitar backs. It was about 1/4” thick & “Book Matched”. I cut out solid maple cores to laminate the quilted stock to. To form the clock I used a large forstner bit & a rabbet bit on my router table. The top of the clock is joined to the base with a glued maple spline. The third clock was made from a nice chunk of figured maple that I had been saving for just such a project. The clocks were finished with Danish Oil & waxed.
