It was an idle hands moment, so I put some leftover scrap to work to keep myself out of trouble. The bases are simple miter construction from Walnut veneered plywood. For the splines I used maple in one and Padauk in the other. The tops were constructed out of some figured maple. One I just put a little brown dye and then sanded lightly to “pop the grain”. The second I mixed up a custom concoction of trans-tint dye(translation: a few drops of this, a few drops of that). topped it off with some BLO.

Fancy tissue boxes! Classy design, like the look. The top are gorgeous as well as the splines. Great job!
