This Gate was my first double There are a few photos of me laying it out on garage floor to get exact measurements. It had to fit between two 6×6 post and have nice even tolerances on the openings. These doors weighed a ton. The opening was about 10’ . This door was built from spruce that my father-in-law had laying around that was facia at one time. The 1x lumber in the center was some poplar base that I milled .All the material for this door was recycled. My father-in-law is a general contractor ,so he has a good supply of misc lumber laying around. My next project is going the be a double with a arch top that will finally be at my house. My next project I will show is one I did for my next door neighbor that is a single that looks like one of the doors from above. The coolest part of that door was the material I used was all fence pickets and It didn’t cost much in material at all. I will post those soon

Now that is one beautiful and heavy duty gate! A very nice compliment to your home – well done.

Beautiful gate! The design and color complements the house and very nice choice of hardware. Great job!

Thank you all for the feedback. These gates are fun to build and they are a great excuse for the wife to pick up new tools .

Have your say...
