February, 2014—After the Live Oak tree in the front yard was pruned, it yielded some nice chunks of wood for some small projects. This is a free-form band saw box made from that tree. The drawer handles are rosewood. Aside from the band saw, the tools involved included a belt sander, router for roundover cutting, hand filing, palm sander, and hand sanding. Three coats of gloss water-based poly finish, and finalized with paste wax.

This wood was easy to work with. This was a fun project. Thanks for looking!

Nice job here Art! That sure is some nice scrap wood that you’ve made both useful and more beautiful.

When I see projects like this it makes me wish I had a band saw of my own.

Well done, yes bandsawn boxing making is fun and very rewarding and there are none of the usual box making rules to follow!
