To me, nothing say “buy me” like a sparkle of brass. Maybe brass screws. It’s clever idea.

What price point are you going for? If your talking under 10 bucks leave it alone… if your talking under 20, I like the brass screws idea. IF you use something other than an inexpensive yard stick for the ruler part, like nice cherry or maple and make a stencil and paint in the delineation and text, then finish it with a hard urethane or lacquer… maybe 50???

I like these as is, but I love antiques.
See if you can find old wood rulers at garage sales. The kind with the this metal inlay-ed into one edge. Seeing the old phone numbers PA6-5000 down the ruler would be a neat touch!

I second the brass, or maybe just wooden dowels. They are pretty cool as is too though.

I think wooden dowels are hardly more difficult or expensive and would add to the project. Overall, very nice!
