these are two wedding gifts i made for my wife. the one with the pennies in the piece of wood has the dates on it when i was born, when she was born, when we met, and when we got engaged, and the year we got married. this same log that i used was used as a decoration piece at are wedding. once we got married i then cut the decoration in to a small piece of wood. i countersink the wood enough to fit the pennies in and sit flush with the wood. i then glued the pennies into the wood, then i put 3 clear coats of finish on it.

the frame in my last picture is another project i posted.

very fun and very sentimental

Great idea! I once framed coins from the marriage year of a couple for their 50th anniversary. I went to a coin shop in Chicago to buy the coins. I expected to pay a considerable premium. It turned out that they cost me only exact face value! (That was before silver dimes and quarters began paying big premiums.)

Five cents for a wedding gift….I’d say she likes you. You married well. Congratulations on the very creative and successful projects, and finding the right girl.

That is a unique idea; my 50 will be coming up in 2016 and this could be a cool keepsake!
I am going to make this a favorite of mine!
