After catching Steve Ramsey’s “Make a wood mallet” video, I decided I had to make a mallet or two for myself. I have now made 6 of them soon after finishing my first mallet, and am still having fun with it. Each mallet is similar in joinery, but have much different shapes, weights and purposes.
These mallets have been made from mostly cut off wood from other projects. Woods included are Cherry, Ash, Oak, Beech, Mahogany, and Birdseye Maple. I used contact cement to attach some leather on a couple of the mallet ends to soften blows.
Most have been simply finished with Linseed oil.
