Just thought about it and I probably should have posted this before I started posting the finished pens lol. Made this out of some spare 2×4’s I had laying around the spray painted it black to help the little pen pieces stand out. Pretty happy with how it turned out and has a ton of space on the bench top for everything and shelf below for extra storage. Thinking about adding on to I can store my chisels on the side by the lathe instead of the shelving unit that you can’t see in the picture.

Looks very sturdy for the lathe and having the tools at hand is a great idea

put your chisels in a drawer underneath the top, just a suggestion

The drawer is a good idea. I had considered that as well. Not sure if I prefer the drawer or more of a mount set up.

Another good thing about a drawer…with some dessicant you can keep the humidity out, a real boon for the health of your tools.

I tried the mount set up on a cart I used originally but found sharp edges pointing down when I am coming up from grabbing something I dropped do not do well with my head. When I built my full bench it was not possible to have all the drawers and have them hanging so I went with dedicating two drawers to have my tools set inside with dividers between each to keep them apart. Worked great until my Father gave me double again the number of chisels so I had to reshuffle drawers to accommodate all those extra chisels. I had planned to get 4-5 chisels in time, not 15 extras. :)

+1 WoodGuyScott desiccant bags work wonders
