I had finally found what I wanted to do for my current favorite pen. (picture # 2) Decided to turn it with the order I had received from my neighbor. My pen is a Zen kit in black ti-chrome with a mosaic “Fig” blank.

My neighbor wanted to have some pens made for here whole family (x6). The pens all needed to have decals with their names. All of them are acrylic except for the 2 ends of the teachers pen. That one has Ziricote and Argentine Osage Orange at the ends. She selected both woods with here acrylic blank. I have turned Ziricote before and it cuts like butter. I had just bought the Argentine Osage Orange and had never worked with it before. It turned really nice too.
All Pens finished with 8+ layers CA and sanded up to 12,000.

Had a good block of time on Saturday and made good use of it I think.

All C & C welcome.
Thanks for looking

Yes, you made good use of your time!

A question….
Can you provide some information or links, regarding the decal process?
I have a few pen ideas, that could use that technique!

Thanks, in advance for the info….
Again, nice job on your “pen job”!!!

Randy,
Thanks for the kind words.
There are several on this web site that have made great blogs… Just search for Decal Pen and you should find them. I had watched videos on youtube also.
I use some decal paper I found on Amazon. Haven not had a problem with it. The one thing I DO MAKE SURE TO DO is use the proper setting compound. I first tried to use some rattle can lacquer as the over spray but it ended up cracking in a few days on the paper and I lost almost a full page of decals. I am sure that I did something not quite right during that. But I did go and get the Testors brand spray, and I haven’t had a problem using that at all!!!
Here are a couple from looking quickly.

Hope this helps.
